Nausea usually occurs between the fourth and eighth weeks of pregnancy and can last from the 16th week of pregnancy. On the other hand, in some expectant mothers, it can last throughout pregnancy. Morning sickness, which is more common in first pregnancies, is less common in second and third pregnancies.

It is known that pregnant women who experience nausea and vomiting in the early stages of pregnancy have a healthier pregnancy process. At the same time, the risk of miscarriage is less. In addition, it has been determined that the hormone levels of pregnant women who experience nausea are quite normal. However, medical science has not yet proven the proof of this. 

What Are the Causes of Nausea?

Causes of morning sickness may be these following factors.

  • Eating too much to digest
  • Eating very fatty foods
  • Not eating enough
  • Eating based on a single food
  • Changing the hormonal balance
  • Social and emotional changes

How Does Nausea During Pregnancy Affect the Baby? 

Complaints of no weight loss, less fluid loss of the expectant mother, and less severe nausea and vomiting do not harm the baby. However, if the fluid and electrolyte loss in the mother due to severe nausea and vomiting is not considered and treated, the risk of miscarriage may increase.

  • You should eat food slowly and avoid spicy foods.
